pack 'n play
Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at 5:37PM A few days after Christmas, we went down to our local Home Depot and bought a stack of boxes. On sale, even, because January is get-yourself-organized-you-filthy-slob month. This was after Father Bird refused to go box-dumpster diving with me, or even get out of the car to ask the liquor store people if we could have the empty boxes that were stacked right there on their curb.
Not that I have a bad thing in the world to say about Father Bird, bless him. (On the curb!)
At any rate, we brought these boxes into our house and began to tape them up and stack books in them. And the boxes began disappearing. Now, this is just days after Christmas, remember, and there were shiny new tricycles sitting in the yard, new Lego sets scattered everywhere, all manner of fun holiday goodies hanging around...

But the boxes were more fun than all of it. Every child had to have a box with his (or her) name on it, they've all packed and unpacked many times, the boxes have been houses, clothing, and of course shells (both for the turtles in the game named, appropriately enough, "Turtle, Turtle, Turtle", and the child-sized chicks that keep popping, loudly, out).
All of this is information that's come too late to save my wallet for this Christmas, but for next year, you can believe my Christmas list is done.

"No pants, but thanks"? I'm sorry. I just can't stop laughing about that. I'm really going to have to try that.
He was very polite about it. Maybe that's the trick?
