a new jungle

They say once you figure this out it's no big deal.  Good, 'cause...wow.

New serger. Day 1.  Bottom of the learning curve looking up.

This is one reason my serger is in its box. I need another lesson or two. Mainly to overcome my fear of anything that has a knife and 3 pages of threading instructions. I wrote about my first experience with learning to use one last spring. http://keepingitgoinginalabama.blogspot.com/2009/02/unhappy-serger.html

Keep us posted. You're probably already up and running with it.

Oh happy day at your house. Wish I knew enough to offer suggestions, but I do know enough to send my support to you in multitudes of oooohhhh's and aaaaaahhhhh's. Can't wait to see what you and the machete machine make.

Hang in there. It really is no big deal once you get used to it. Just like threading a regular machine is no big deal. And once you get used to it, the serger will change the way you sew. It is a different animal to be sure, but it is an awfully useful animal! Mine happens to have color coded numbers. If it didn't I would use some permanent magic markers and write them on the machine. So much better than having to get the manual out to thread it!
